What is inside the blueprint
A UK tax advisory practice runs on the same five motions every week: a prospect books a call, someone researches them beforehand, receipts get read and filed, VAT gets calculated to the letter, and the client wants to know where things stand. This blueprint is the actual product design for a hub that does all five without anyone retyping a client's details twice.
CueDev UK Tax Advisor Blueprint
The full product blueprint: five modules, real screens, and the VAT math worked out to the penny.
- Onboard . bookings from Calendly or Cal.com become client files in one click
- Research . a briefing on the prospect lands in your workspace before the call
- Process . invoices are scanned, read, and posted to the right ledger category
- Comply . standard, reduced, zero-rated, and exempt VAT handled exactly
- Share . clients see their figures, history, and filing progress in their own portal
Prospecting and onboarding without retyping anything
New clients come from the booking tools a practice already uses. When a prospect books, the platform captures their name, company, contact details, meeting time, and intake answers automatically, and carries all of it through to the client file. After a successful consultation, one action turns the prospect into an active client. No contact details are entered twice.
The blueprint connects Calendly, Cal.com, and Brevo out of the box, with company registration and VAT numbers added directly for referrals and existing clients.
Walking into every call already briefed
Before a consultation starts, the platform researches the prospect and delivers a short dossier to the advisor's workspace: company title, industry, and a short summary of how that industry works; sector, website domain, and VAT registration status; links found online; and industry-specific tax considerations worth raising on the call.
Invoices read, categorised, and VAT calculated to HMRC rules
Clients upload receipts through their portal or forward them by email. The platform extracts the figures, assigns a chart-of-accounts category, and rolls everything into period summaries, then applies the same four VAT treatments gov.uk defines ↗ across every client account:
| Treatment | Rate | Typically applied to |
|---|---|---|
| Standard rate | 20% | General commercial expenses, professional fees, most taxable supplies |
| Reduced rate | 5% | Qualifying energy, power, and domestic utility services |
| Zero rate | 0% | Zero-rated goods, exports, and qualifying food supplies |
| Exempt | . | Financial services, insurance, and medical transactions kept out of the VAT figures |
Quarterly totals feed Making Tax Digital ↗ submissions directly, since every VAT-registered business now has to keep digital records and submit through compatible software rather than typing figures into a portal by hand.
A portal that answers the client's questions before they ask
Every client gets a secure login showing their current position, filing progress, and full history, plus a place to send new documents. A historical archive of closed years and past filings, a financial breakdown without jargon, live tracking of the current period and upcoming deadlines, and a document vault for uploads and messages, all in one place instead of an inbox full of "just checking in" emails.
- Fewer entry errors . details are captured once at the source and never retyped
- Billable hours back . receipt sorting, categorising, and period totals happen automatically
- Compliance built in . HMRC formulas and all four VAT treatments applied consistently
- Happier clients . self-service visibility replaces status-update emails
Why we are sharing the actual blueprint
Most vendors in this space describe what their software does. We would rather show the actual product design: the modules, the real screens, and the VAT math worked to the penny, because that is the same level of detail we bring to a client's own build. If a generic AI tool is currently doing double duty as your practice's tax researcher, invoice reader, and VAT calculator, our piece on the hidden tax trap of just asking ChatGPT covers exactly where that breaks down, and what a designed, agentic system does differently.
FAQ
This is the actual product blueprint CueDev designed for a UK tax advisory client hub. It documents the real modules and screens; talk to us if you want the same kind of build for your own practice.
No. The PDF downloads directly, no email or signup required.
No. It sits on top of the tools you already use for booking (Calendly, Cal.com) and connects to your accounting records, rather than replacing them.
The VAT and Making Tax Digital detail is UK-specific, but the underlying pattern (booking to client file, pre-call research, document reading, compliance, and a client portal) applies to any tax or bookkeeping practice.
Each rate follows the same two formulas: gross equals net times one plus the rate to add VAT to a net price, and net equals gross divided by one plus the rate to extract VAT from a gross price. Exempt transactions are kept out of the VAT figures entirely.
